How to earn money while shopping

I have a love/hate relationship with shopping.  It's so hard for me because I can't help but think that I could of gotten a better deal at a different website, or another store.  Not to mention, what if they put this on even better sale next week? I may be the only one, but getting a good deal gets stressful. So, I learned how to earn money while shopping

A few things that ease my stress are Ebates, and Shopkicks.

Ebates is amazing!!
Find out what it is + how to use it HERE.

For example:
GAP is having a SALE on top of a SALE: take an extra 40% off all SALE items.
Which is a great deal in itself BUT there's more...
+  Ebates is offering 14% cash back at GAP right now.
Ebates is legit, and I get checks in the mail monthly to prove it.
Sign up HERE to get a FREE giftcard for first-timers and begin shopping with cash back.

If you aren't into the whole shopping online thing, then you should check out SHOPKICKS.

Shopkicks is a mobile app that is downloaded right to your iPhone (not sure if any other phones are compatible)

  • The best thing about Shopkicks is there is NO purchased required.
  •  You simply receive 'KICKs' for walking into stores & scanning featured products.
  • I've only been using it for about 4 months now, and I've gotten $25+ in Target giftcards just from my usual Target trips.
  • You can earn more kicks by looking through the ads within the app, being referred by a friend (that's me) and referring friends.
  • There is an option to link your credit card to earn even more.   (haven't tried that yet)
BEFORE downloading the app, click this link to get 50 FREE kicks when you walk into stores like Target, Macy's, Best Buy, American Eagle and more...

  1. Walk into a store with the shopkicks app open
  2. Scan featured items
  3. Earn kicks toward a giftcard of your choice
  4. Receive a giftcard that can be scanned from your phone
  5. FREE Money $$$

Please comment if you have any questions... I would NOT refer you to something that was a scam.

I'm done with "to-do" lists.

I often find that I measure the success of my day by how many tasks I cross off my "to-do" list. My "to-do" list provides a set of goals for me to accomplish. It helps me focus on what I want/need to do or remember each day. It gives me that simple, yet victoriously sweet satisfaction of completing something and it being DONE!

However... there is one problem with the "to-do" list: I have more "to-do" lists than I have time "to-do." Seriously y'all, I have a "to-do" list for everything:

A"to-do" list for my blog...
A"to-do" list for the baby...
A"to-do" list for housework...
A "to-do" list for my husband...

I have so many "to-do" lists, that I have a "to-do" list to complete my"to-do" lists!

As I was beginning my morning stress-out over all I had "to-do" today, my husband said this...

For some reason those words stuck with me all-day. So today, I decided to do just that: celebrate!

Today I Celebrate!
Eating breakfast and reading scripture with my hubby
Sipping water with my boy while reading books
Throwing ball with the dog (more than once)
Singing songs, laughing, and dancing ALL day long
Coaching a volleyball practice
Successfully feeding, diapering, and putting to bed an 11 month old
Getting a blog post written :)
Washing a load of cloth diapers
And (THANKFULLY!!!) the list could go on, and on, and on...

I'm done measuring my days by what didn't get done. From now on, the measuring stick for this mama is, "How much did I celebrate today?"

What did you do today? Did you take time out to celebrate?

What's for Lunch? :8 ingredients, 8 HEALTHY combo meals

One of my biggest eating struggles is LUNCH. Finding healthy lunch options aren't always easy. It shouldn't be difficult, but sometimes I end up skipping it all together because
I don't have time,
I don't have anything readily available to eat,
or what I do have to eat doesn't look 'good'.

I then decided to start REMIXing my food!
Remixing has revolutionized the fashion blogger world, and its working great for them.
(check out my favorite fashion blogger Kendi.)
So why not do it with food??
Just take 8 ingredients (a sample is pictured below) and create 8 HEALTHY combo meals that can become lunch, or dinner.

FIRST
At the begging of the week I take all 8 ingredients and prepare them separately and place them in pyrex containers in the fridge. Some of the ingredients like tomatoes, avocado, and spinach I leave raw and prepare quickly the day of.

SECOND
I get excited about remixing my food!  Just because it's the same 8 ingredients everyday, doesn't mean that I have to eat the same thing each meal.  GET CREATIVE, pair things together that you typically wouldn't see in a normal restaurant. Don't forget to include a protein in each meal! (see my examples below)

THIRD
It's time to EAT.  I often include fruits, extra veggies if I have them, and a large glass of ice water.
Remember there are no rules, this is just a simple idea to help create healthy combinations of foods.
For more on eating healthy, look at this post.

Here is a sample week:

meal 1: ((spinach salad))
chicken, spinach, tomato , avocado
meal 2: ((burrito bowl))
brown rice, black beans, chicken, spinach, tomato, avocado
meal 3: ((scramble))
 scrambled eggs, black beans, avocado
meal 4: ((skillet))
brown rice, chicken, black beans, zuchinni, tomato
meal 5: ((zuchinni boats))
zucchini, black beans, tomatoes
meal 6: ((egg salad))
 boiled egg, avocado black bean
meal 7: ((mix up))
put  all 8 ingredients together
meal 8: ((simple chicken))
chicken, brown rice, sauteed spinach

*DISCLAIMER: I started this post way before I even dreamed about eating Paleo (NO, brown rice nor beans are paleo).  After writing this post I decided to google 'remixing food' and of course someone else has thought of it. I didn't use ANY of her ideas, but its so funny that she references Kendi and fashion bloggers too! See her post HERE.  Hers is more on the idea of 30 different meals and creates a cool chart that you should check out.

Mango, Avocado Tuna Salad [Quick, Easy, Healthy]

This is a perfect creation for a quick meal.
It will take less than 10 minutes to prepare and its 100% healthy, Paleo, and Whole30 approved!

Ingredients:
1 can of Tuna
1/2 of a Large avocado OR whole small avocado
1/2 of a Mango
1 Tbs. coconut oil
Salt & Pepper to taste
2 handfuls of fresh spinach

Instructions:
1. Cut Avocado & Mango into small chunks.
2. Open can of Tuna into a bowl.
3. Combined all ingredients in bowl and toss lightly with a fork.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
5. Serve on a bed of spinach.

* Be creative.  Just because you don't have a mango lying around the house, don't be afraid to chop up an apple, a few grapes, maybe even strawberries!
